New York Show role-play?

Postby ComicBookZero » Thu Jan 21, 2010 3:08 pm

Hey all,

First-timer here. I caught the e-mail about the show in New York City, and I'm planning to attend and hopefully bring some friends along. I'm new to steampunk and don't know how common role-play is at AP shows, but I was thinking it would be fun to get some of the kids from the comic shop I work at interested in steampunk through creating characters/personas and going to the show as them.

Would anyone be interested in setting up some sort of role-play scenario? It's not something I've really done before, but it sounds like it would be a good way to get immersed in the setting. I'm thinking some sort of delivery - having the kids from the shop need to deliver something to another person in-character at the show, and possibly run into some complications along the way. That's about as far as my thinking has gone, though.

Any comments or advice about running this sort of thing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

While I've not been to a show myself (new-ish and no shows in my area), youtube video and sundry other sources suggest it's quite common. I have a concept myself, but it will take some time to complete. After all, you can only go so fast when it involves a hook and a long length of fiber.
